Due to a scheduling error on the part of staff at our regular venue, Anaheim United Methodist Church, our January 24 meeting has been displaced to the church’s sanctuary.
We will welcome Duke Benedom as our speaker on Superb Succulents.
Unfortunately, the church does not allow food or plants in the sanctuary. As such, we won’t be having snacks, raffle, plant sales or Mini-Show. I am very sorry it has to be this way. We did look at other options but none seemed feasible.
Superb Succulents—Duke Benadom
We are very fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and
long time contributor to the hobby for our speaker this
month. Duke has been involved with several cactus &
succulent clubs and is a life member of three. He became
a Director for the Cactus & Succulent Society of America
(CSSA) in 1990, served as the CSSA’s Show Chairman for
more than a decade, and as Convention Chairman for six
conventions. He served as Vice President and then
President for a total of almost ten years, and as Editor of the Cactus & Succulent Journal for just over a year. He is a recipient of three CSSA awards, Superior Service, Special Service, and Fellow. He was the author of the long-running CSJ column, Superb Succulents, since its inception. He enjoys flora and fauna, seed growing, traveling, photography, and sharing these experiences with others of similar interests.
Duke and his wife Kaz are expert growers of cycads and succulents. They are long time sellers at our club’s sales. Duke has authored several beautifully published books that he will bring in for sale. They are available on his website www.superbsucculents.com and on Amazon.com. Click on images below.
They include ‘Superb Succulents,’ ‘Echinocereus,’ ‘Southwest Deserts—California & Nevada,’ ‘The Cycads Volume 1—Asia & Australia,’ and ‘The Cycads Volume 2—Africa & The Americas.’ His email is Duke@SuperbSucculents.com.
